About the Bridge

Bridge Programme
Bridge is every evening at 20:00. As discussed below there are plenty of other things to do so you do not have to play bridge every evening, it is completely up to you. When we are at sea there will be a series of seminars as outlined on your bridge cruise itinerary.
Bridge Room
On each ship a room is designated the 'Bridge Room'. This act as the bridge room for evenings only (during the day it is open for everyone to use). On days at sea there will be informal bridge in the afternoon from 14:15 until tea-time 15:45.
Playing Bridge
Bridge will be played every evening at 20:00. This will be duplicate pairs, and partners are always found for those coming along singly. The bridge is competitive, but the emphasis is put on sociability and friendliness. The most important part of any
holiday is the atmosphere that prevails.
Seminars
The seminars will be covering a range of topics to entertain everybody, always open to questions and suggestions, you will not be disappointed, and will certainly learn much about the game. At the end of the cruise a session is held called 'ANY QUESTIONS', giving you the opportunity to discuss any bridge topic you like. The seminar titles are on your itinerary and will be announced the day before.
Noticeboard
Scores will be posted in the 'Bridge Room' itself. This will be made clear to you on the first evening. As cruises can be unpredictable (delays in port, bad weather) there can be late changes to the itinerary - all amendments to the program will be posted there, but these will also be announced at bridge sessions, time permitting.
Other Activities
There is always an enormous amount happening on board ship: port talks, guest lectures, show time, bingo, arts & crafts, dancing This all goes on at the same time as the bridge programme. The choice is yours - the bridge programme is completely optional and you can come and go as you please. At times there will be clashes, which efforts will be made to avoid, but inevitably there will be occasions when something has to be missed. One thing to notice is that most guest lectures and port talks have TWO sittings - by clashing with just one of these you will be able to go to the second - do not worry which sitting (1st or 2nd) talk you go to, because these are just guidelines.
Dining Arrangements
The Mr Bridge party dines on the first sitting (MAIN SITTING), to give time for the evening duplicate to be played. We sit together as a group, with the option to move around within the group allowing for a sociable atmosphere and a chance to get to know each other.
